Hope Disability Centre organizes outreach camp for person with disability in Chandrakot, Shantipur Gulmi

Hope Disability Centre, Gulmi organized a screening and mobility aid distribution camp in co-ordination with Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled children (HRDC), Gulmi and Chandrakot Rural municipality, Gulmi for person with disability in Chandrakot Rural Municipality. The camp was organized at office building of Chandrakot Rural Municipality.

The camp was mostly focused on screening of person with disability for identification of mobility aid needs, distribution of wheelchair and mobility aids and measurement of orthosis and prosthesis for needy person with disability.

Seven persons with disability of various age groups were provided wheelchair. Seven persons with disability were provided walking aids which included three pairs of axillary crutches, one forearm crutch and three canes. Three under 18 aged amputees were measured for prosthetic limbs which included two below elbow amputee and one below knee amputee.  Two other person with disability under 18 aged were measured for lower limb orthosis. Three under eighteen children aged with joint and bone deformity were also referred to HRDC, Banepa for surgical correction.

A joint team of 7 staffs from Hope Disability Centre, Gulmi and HRDC, Butwal including two physiotherapists and one orthotic & prosthesis technician provided services at the camp. Total of 40 persons with disability approached the camp for seeking services. Hope Disability Centre’s team also visited home and distributed wheelchair to four persons with disability who couldn’t approach the camp.
