Assessment camp in Tamghas

November 14, 2014

A good assessment camp was held in Tamghas after a request was made by Hope Centre to the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Disabled Children (near Kathmandu) and HRDC Coordinator Salikram about how to help more patients in Gulmi District while saving Hope Centre so much travel cost to Kathmandu that we pay to get patients assessed.

???????????????????????????????So Hope Centre helped call all orthopaedic cases that they had seen on various outreach camps to the districts, and the HRDC team were able to assess all needy surgical cases easily at Resunga Hospital (which is managed by the Hope Treasurer’s brother, Dr Laxman Bhusal)

The HRDC team, including Dr Bibek Banskota, who is the son of the HRDC Founder /Director Dr. Ashok Banskota and 7 other doctors, screened 100 kids and youth and gave appointments for 26 of them for major surgery at HRDC Hospital January and February, 2015.

Another 30 will require physiotherapy and some need better prostheses and orthoses to enable effective walking or hand control. I am so happy so many children will soon get help from this camp as Gulmi District continues to reduce most of its cases of disability since opening 7 years ago.

Thanks to Resunga Hospital and its team for opening its doors so generously for this camp.

Ganga Rayamajhi, Hope Manager.
